The Adlerbräu Herbert Zötler GmbH, founded in 1447, is Germany’s
oldest — and the world’s tenth-oldest — family-owned enterprise, which,
of course, also makes it Germany’s oldest family-owned brewery. Zötler can boast a more than 560-year old brewing tradition stretching over
20 generations!
Located in the small Bavarian resort town of Rettenberg, this ancient craft brewery is nestled against the spectacular backdrop of the scenic
foothills of the Alps. For its beers, it uses nothing but ample pure
Alpine water, noble Bavarian hops, and the finest, carefully-kilned
Bavarian malt.
Zötler Bier Korbinian Dunkel is a perfect 5.1% alc./vol. interpretation of a Classic Bavarian Dark Lager. Though rich, full-bodied, opaque, and malty, with lingering notes of aromatic hops, it is surprisingly refreshing and easy-drinking.
In 2007, at the European Beer Star, a bi-annual international beer competition with entries from all around the world, the aptly named Zötler Gold won the prestigious gold medal in the hard-fought category, “Bavarian Export Helles.”
